What does accessibility mean to me:
Accessibility in media means to keep in mind that their are people in the world that do not have all of their senses and realize that they deserve to enjoy media just as much as people with all of their senses do.

Why did we have to upload 3 different versions of the same project?
I think we had to upload 3 different versions of the same project because Mr. Heagney wants to see the work that we put in on each part of our projects.

I AM NOT SURE WHY MY VIDEOS CAME OUT SO SMALL ON YOUTBE BECAUSE I SPENT A LONG TIME EDITNG THEM IN PREMIERE, BUT REGARDLESS; HERE ARE MY 3 VIDEOS:

Blog Post #5

Mitchell Baldwin

For this Blog Post i decided to use a commercial where sound was not an issue and someone who is deaf could more or less understand the main point of the commercial. I chose this commercial because I believe Gatorade did an amazing job coming up with a commercial that did not have to have sound to sell the product. I do not think it helps people who are visually impaired at all, but as far as people who cannot hear very well, it does a good job of not requiring good hearing. Tell me what you guys think!

Blog Post #3

For this blog post I used my recorded audio from my still image video about 2k. https://soundcloud.com/user-794973908/the-evolution-of-2k-in-my-opinion.  I thought about some voice effects I could use on my voice to better the project, and I cam up with these:

  1. Time and Pitch- I could use this option to make my voice higher, because I tend to talk very low and this would help people here me more clear.
  2. Noise Reduction/Restoration- During the recording, my phone was ringing often, so I would assume that this effect would help with that at least a little bit
  3. Filter- I could use this to make my voice recording much sharper and clearer than the original.

Blog Post #2

By: Mitchell Baldwin

This particular blog post was difficult for me because I missed everything the class went over on Friday. After watching the videos and playing around in Premiere,  I came up with this. Basically I just put the audio of the Dark Knight trailer, wherever I thought it would fit with the Lion King video. Some of the clips I put together, blend very well and you cannot tell the difference between the Lion King and Batman audio and other parts aren't as good. I used Premiere Pro by Adobe to complete this assignment. Let me know what you guys think. While completing this blog post, I kept in mind fair use. Fair use is a law that allows reproduction of copyrighted things for certain uses only. Movie mashups fall under fair use because if you are using movie clips, then you are fine.

For my blog post, I attempted to remove the background noise and laughing throughout the recording, but it did not work out too well, can anyone tell me where I went wrong?

Blog Post #7

Blog Post #7

By: Mitchell Baldwin

So for this blog post, I decided to have some fun. I thought about what meme I could do that would be easily relatable to any and everyone who saw it. So I decided to create one about a classroom setting. So I went on Google and found a picture of kids in a classroom along with a teacher.
Next, I decided to use the ever so famous, crying Jordan meme, so I looked that up and opened both pictures up in photoshop.
Next, I converted both pictures into smart objects. Next, I used the lasso tool in photoshop to get rid go the red background and the suit from the picture of Michael Jordan. After that I duplicated the layer onto the page with the picture of the classroom. I then used command-T to shrink the photo enough to fit on the kid's bodies. I did this over and over until every kid had the crying Jordan meme for a face. Lastly, I used a text box and used a font I thought fit well for a meme which was "impact." I then moved the caption around until I found a good spot and font size for it.
After all of that, this was the finished product.

When creating anything that attempts to draw people in, the color scheme matters tremendously, so for this blog post, I decided to use the colorful throwback logo of the San Antonio Spurs. While I do not like the team to which the logo belongs, I love the colorway and thought it was more than colorful enough to be used for this assignment.

So first i began by tapping the rectangle tool, then while holding down the shift key, I dragged the square out until it was around the size of my desire. Then I played around with the swatch colors until I found ones that match the likeness of the teal, pink, and orange, used in the Spurs logo.

Lastly, I drew out two text boxes and wrote my name in one and the school I attend with the major  am studying in the other. While I know I have much room to improve with the text box part, I am happy I got as far as I did with it because I am still learning how to use them more effectively.

From a first glance at this brochure, you can tell China City decided to make their name a very big and unique font and they decided to use a wide range of different fonts. They used the same three colors throughout (red, green, and white). They used a lot of contrast in the photo of the building and for the car. The text is also centered and no part of the photos or text is close to the edge.

This article titled "A time for love" has a very nice layout. It contains a clear dominant photo, which does its job in illustrating what the captions talk about. The pictures also have similar spacing all through out and the captions have the right amount of space with the right font size. Even though there are not many photos on the page, the pictures that are there express different ideas, instead of having three similar photos placed together.

Although this article has very good, even spacing in between the photos used, it has very bad elements in it. This photo story does not have a dominant photo at all and many of the pictures seem to be illustrating the exact same ideas. The text is all put into one spot instead of spread evenly through out the page.

Cropping Out Distracting People

Cropping Out Distracting People
January 24th, 2018
Mitchell Baldwin

Since we were asked to use any picture we would like to remove distracting elements for, I decided to use this picture of Dwight Howard dunking in the 2009 dunk contest.
As you can tell in this photo, there are quite a few distracting elements. These include the lights in the background, the cameraman directly behind Dwight, and the three or four heads in the bottom right corner. I was not very confident that I would be able to remove the lights in the background, so I decided to try my hand at removing the distracting people.

To do this I used the Clone Stamp Tool. I outlined the crowd, which is what I wanted to clone, then I drew over the camera guy and the NBA player's head. This created an effect that made the camera man and the NBA players disappear.

This is the finished product. The clone stamp tool removed the distracting people, and made the crowd look much bigger than it did originally. We have not learned about this tool yet, but I hope we do because it seems like a very helpful tool to use and is also very simple after a few attempts.

Blog Post #2:
Framing:
For this shot I attempted to add a frame effect to the window picture. So I stepped forward from where I was originally standing to get less of the wall in the shot. This is one of my favorite shots.

Worms Eye View
For this shot I wanted to capture an unusual angle of the window so I ducked down and shot upwards and came up with this. This is probably my least favorite shot.

Lines:
For this shot I wanted to capture the lines under the window along with a little bit of the window. The lines add more for the audience to see.

Symmetry:
For this shot I took a step back to capture the full window so the audience would be able to see the perfect symmetry of the window.

Side view:
For this shot I wanted to capture an extremely unusual angle of the window to add a different perspective of it. This is one of my favorite shots.

Mitchell Baldwin Com 1113 Intro

Introduction/Background:
Hi My name is Mitchell Baldwin. I am in Com 1113 because my major is Sports Communications. I am a freshman at High Point. I am 18 years old and am from Maryland. My favorite color is red and my favorite color to wear is black.

Interests:
As I said before, I am into sports, but I am most interested in basketball. When I am not sleeping, eating, or in class, I am doing something basketball related. Whether it is playing NBA 2k on Ps4, playing in real life in Slane, watching live games, watching highlights, or keeping up with my fantasy basketball league.

What I hope to get out of this class:
I watch a lot of YouTube videos on basketball and NBA 2k, so for awhile I have thought about starting my own YouTube channel doing the same things, but in my own way. It had only been a thought before because it takes a lot of time and the equipment necessary to start a channel is very expensive and it requires a lot of knowledge about photoshop and video editing, which I have none of. So I'm hoping that by the end of the semester I will know how to do at least some basic things on photoshop.
